Pacific Ocean Waves, Kona, Hawaii

I love the ocean, and the Pacific Ocean has always had a mystical hold over me. I can watch the waves break on the rocks for hours. It is like life. And I swear, sticking my bad feet into the Pacific makes them feel better almost instantly (okay, so that works in the Atlantic and the Indian oceans as well). This image was created at Pu'uhonua O Honaunau on the Big Island of Hawaii. You have to work way way out over rocks and dead coral to get to this point, where the ocean almost surrounds you. I spent a lot of time day dreaming as the waves ran around me. Finally as dusk was settling in, I set up the tripod and took this among other images. This images was created with a wide angel lens, around 24 mm I think. The lens was near wide open and the shutter speed was 1/10 of a second. Just enough to get the waves blurred but to preserve something tangible in the background.
