Chinatown, Bangkok, Thailand

This one really stands out, doesn't it? Its that great big streak of red that brings your eye right into the picture. Take a closer look at this image. One of the things I love about Bangkok is how much is going on in any small space at any given time. It is chaotic. I've tried to capture that in this photograph. The cars speeding by, just missing the bike riders. The street signs boldly shouting at you. The vendor on the corner selling his wares and all the people eating and walking and just living their lives. There is a lot of information in this picture; a story indeed about life in Bangkok. Exciting. I always want to go back to Bangkok.
I have my camera mounted on a tripod and it, and myself, are both sitting in a gutter on the side of the street hoping not to get hit by a car. It was the only way I could get low enough to get the angle needed to make all the pieces fit together. I did wear junky pants because I knew I might have to get a little dirty that night. The data for the image is not recorded anywhere that I can find it, but the shutter speed has to be around 10 seconds.
A little tip for those of you who license their images through on line outlets. The square image shows up bigger on search pages than does the 35 mm image. If your image needs cropping, don't be afraid to do it. What you lose in royalty because of a lower size, you may well gain back in more sales due to better visibility.
