Fine Art Color Underwater Photograph by Brad Rickerby - Australia

Confused Fish, Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Available as a Limited Edition Print

And now for something a little different! I used to scuba dive a lot, and take a lot of pictures while I was doing it. I've gone Scuba diving in Australia, Hawaii, Aruba, up and down the Florida Keys, and a lot of other places. Of all the images I gathered, I like this one the best. This fish has personality. It shows confusion and perhaps a touch of fear on its face. It knows it is trapped between two divers and has to figure a way to escape.

I approach the underwater image the same way I did the photojournalistic image on land. Available light whenever possible and as little equipment as possible so I could blend in with the background and not change the event by my being there. I swam slowly keeping an eye out for interesting happenings and when I saw one tried to get closer with disturbing fish or diver in the process. I have to tell you that that is not easy. I once chased a barracuda for several minutes until finally he turned and looked me in the face. The length of his teeth and the look of hunger in his eyes convinced me to give ways to other subject matter.
