Mystical.
It makes me think of forever.
It has a hold of me.
This image has power. It reaches out to me, to pull me in, to make me a part of it.
This image moves me.
I cannot describe for you the effect the location where it was taken had on me.

This is another image taken at Honounau O Honaunao on the Big Island, Hawaii. The first image is on this blog on February 23. This image illustrates one of the most important lessons you can learn as a photograph. Simply put, Turn around. More times than I care to count I have worked a location for a while, gotten some good pictures, and then turned around. 90 degrees, 180 degress, it doesn't matter. Almost inevitably, when I turn, there is a great picture waiting. Everything changes when you turn. You go from front light to back light (or vis versa) and the colors and the saturation and the contrast are radically different. If nothing else you have two very different images to show for your work. So turn around. Seriously. I have had the rule for a long time and it has served me well.

You know where to find me if you would like a Limited Edition print or if you have questions or comments, brad@bradrickerby.com.
